A total of 200 attendees, consisted of corn farmers, Indigenous People, and private companies witnessed the Farmers’ Field day for Community Based Participatory Action Research (CPAR) on Yellow Corn Using Site Specific Nutrient Management (SSNM) held in Brgy. San Vicente, Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro on March 20.
This study aims to increase the corn production of the farmers using the correct amount of nutrient needed in a specific location. It promotes the appropriate use of the fertilizers, existing nutrients from the soil, and crop residue.
Spearheaded by the DA- MiMaRoPa Reasearch Division, this activity highlighted the impact of the adaptors of CPAR on the lives of the farmer-cooperators who used the technology in their field.
According to Mr. Jose Paquidongon, one of the co-operators of CPAR, he is thankful to DA for letting him use the SSNM in his farm because his harvest increased from 4 to 7.9 tons per hectare.
After the harvest of the SSNM used crops, the farmer co-operator will return the farm inputs given to them for the use of the next adaptor of SSNM.

Through the success of this event, DA- MiMaRoPa hopes that there will be more adaptors in the study to contribute to the success of the research and also to improve their lives as a corn farmer
